NatPaCT and NHS Estates have now completed a series of 12 briefing events on the implications for the development, planning & funding of future primary care premises, owing to the introduction of nGMS arrangements from 1 April 2004. The half day events which have taken place at locations around the country have been attended by over 700 NHS and associated colleagues with an interest in developing modern primary care infrastructure. Since much of the detail in relation to actual funding allocations has yet to be finalised, the events have focused upon:- Allocation arrangements for schemes already under development
- Whole system planning through recommended Strategic Service Development Plans
- Lead PCT arrangements for handling allocations and future priorities
- Introduction to new web-based guidance
- Future technical and developmental support to PCTs and SHAs
Q&A
A wide range of questions were raised, the most common of which are set out in a Q&A document .
Further advice will be issued in the new year together with financial allocations to all PCTs. NatPaCT is hosting a simulation day on 8 January 2004 to consider and advise upon the Lead PCT allocation arrangements - it is intended that from this event NatPaCT will issue a toolkit for PCTs who will be expected to work collegiately in SHA areas to decide priorities for future lead PCT developments. Any colleagues wishing to input into this event will be welcome. In addition, colleagues who would like to join the "virtual" estate network or have issues to raise, please contact Keith Houghton or Natalia Clarke.
